I read an article recently on Kilkenny's next captain, And it was saying Kilkenny is one of the few remaining county's
that county final winners pick the captain of the county team. Got me thinking in recent years there has been some
controversy over the captaincy with players like Charlie Carter, Michael Fennelly and Lester Ryan been nominated
as captain but were substitutes on All Ireland final day. Should it be kept the traditional way of the club nominating
the captain or should the management have the decision of who will be captain that year?

I would not like to see the tradition go completely, however i would have liked to see someone like JJ Delaney lifting the cup!, maybe there is a halfway measure in that if a club wins the county title two years in a row the second year management have the choice!
I really cant see clubs going for such a system though

i think the manager should decide,he has insight to strengths, character,,and leadership a man who will lead by example, who can instill spirit and will to win into his team

Leave it as it is. Kerry has the same system so the two most successful counties are singing of the same hymn sheet

yes but we must have a record in players who have went up for the cup and didn't start in the first 15.

I think should stay as it is. Those who are leaders don't need a title to lead. JJ, Tommy, Henry, Noel, Eddie, Gorta, Lyng etc have all done it weather they were officially the captain or not.
It's a nice honour for the club to be able to pick it. If I was a Ballyhale man I would have asked for Tommy or JJ to be given the chance before now as they've had a good few wins and the lads were never going to have the chance. Although I don't think it takes in anyway from their career that they didn't get that chance.
