In reality kilkennys success is a combination of a number of factors, but which one part has had the greatest influence in creating this purple patch, and what can be done to ensure kilkenny remain very competitive after the retirements of some of the best ever players to play the game!

I would say its a combination of the 1st four answers. I don't think Kilkenny not been a football county has been a major factor in their success. The decline of other counties is their own fault they held on to the senior players too long and never brought in any new blood, The introduction of the development squads ten years before anyone else with all the past players on board was a huge factor in the quality of players that came up together from Under 15 up to Minor level

For kk to dominate like they have done,or for any team for that matter then they as a basic requirement would have required all of the above attributes.Afterall kk have always had a strong club scene, never played football, and always had a strong and commited county board. That's why kk have being so successful long before 1998.So what changed after 1998?Answer, Brian Cody.Without him kk would still have being winning all/ires maybe once every 6 or 7 years but now we are stringing back to backs and 3 in a rows and even the odd 4 in arow together. It's ridicules the amount of success weve had and are still having. It's unprecedented. In my opinion the main difference between the last 15 years and the previous 120 is Brian Cody.
