Will John Dalton come back and would he be good enough? Apart from Mike Walsh, are there any other rough diamond specialist full backs in the county? I thought that the O'loughlins minor full back and captain was immense (for the few county final mins i saw him) but he's a long way to grow..
Plot-twist: Eoin Murphy to be the next No 6!!

Cillian Buckley will be the next no 6 with Padraigh Walsh and Kieran Joyce manning the wings. Eoin Murphy Paul Murphy A.N Other Jackie Tyrell, Padriagh Walsh,Cillian Buckley, Kieran Joyce, Mick Fennelly, Conor Fogarty Rithie Power TJ Reid John Power Ritchie Hogan Colin Fennelly, Eoin larkin.
John Walsh from the minor panel deserves a chance. It is a long time since a minor forward has shown such outrageous talent.

John Dalton won't be back either. I'd say he try Joey and Jackie again....but wouldn't see either of them managing a Joe Canning at full forward...compared to Galway keeping Canning away from JJ.

i would put Kieran Joyce fullback he done well there for the under 21 all ireland winning side a few years ago. Joey Holden is not a fullback might get away with it at club but not inter county. Jackie could do a job to. but in fairness we have lost the two best fullbacks in the last 15 years in JJ and Noel Hickey.

Dalton won't be seen unless Cody goes simple as and I'm loathe to say it.
Joyce only got the one run at FB last year and yes it was the Tipp game and we got annihilated in defence in the first half however Joyce was only after playing the Inter AI the week before with the Rower and I'm sure he did a little celebrating in that week before the Tipp game so I think it's unfair to judge him on that performance.
I'm not a fan of Joey Holden FB or the idea of moving Paul Murphy or Jackie there either.
Michael Walsh from Gowran, Tom Aylward from Mullinavegas, David Glynn from the Boro should all get a run.

I definitely can't see Dalton coming back onto the panel anyway. I wouldn't be in favour of Holden full back, Cos although he's strong enough in the air and is very good attacking the ball! defensively i think he's lacking in strength, pace, reading of the game, hooking and blocking and the toughness you need to play full back. In my opinion Paul Murphy has all them attributes and is an experienced enough player to fill that position now. Kieran Joyce would be another good option but who will play centre back?

Lost at least 4 of the best hurlers the game has ever seen and we can still field a serious team. Just going on last years panel and assuming no more retirements
Eoin Murphy Paul Murphy Kieran Joyce Jackie Tyrell Padraig Walsh, Michael Fennelly, Cillian Buckley Richie Hogan, Conor Fogarty TJ Reid, Colin Fennelly, Eoin Larkin Richie Power, Henry Shefflin, John Power
Lester Ryan Michael Rice Walter Walsh Joey Holden Brian Kennedy Mark Kelly Jonjo Farrell

Even if he did I don't think he would make the team. I do in most parts like your team but mine would be: E. Murphy C. Fogarty P. Murphy J Tyrell P Walsh K. Joyce K. Buckley R. Hogan M. Fennelly TJ Reid Colin Fennelly M. Rice Richie Power, Eoin Larkin, John Power Ideally I'd like to see someone coming in for Tyrell and Larkin as I'd imagine it'll be their last year with KK next year. We don't seem to have a lot of options from the bench next year. It'll be interesting to see who gets a run in the league.

I think myself Paul Murphy could be given the job at FB and possibly Kennedy getting another chance in the corner. Kennedy is a very good hurler, and has got serious pace. He did alright in the league, though Currams did give him a bit of a runaround in the Offaly game in the championship, it was his first championship match.
He wouldn't be the first lad to need a year or two to develop, Tyrrell, Brian Hogan, Michael Fennelly, Rice, Buckley, even Richie Hogan are all examples of patience paying dividends.

Cillan Buckley will start at center back in the Walsh cup. If he cuts it he will remain there for the year. Mr. Cody did it with Peter Barry moving him from right half to center where he made his name. Buckley is in the same mode as Barry only a good bit faster. As regards the bench the addition of Luke Scanlon and John Walsh would add much to it.

Not sure Buckley will be CB next year. Personally, I'd go with Joyce at CB. I reckon the likeliest side for 2015 (assuming fitness is fine) will be:
E Murphy Kennedy, P. Murphy, Tyrrell P Walsh, Joyce, Buckley Fogarty, M Fennelly, Reid, C Fennelly, R Power Larkin, R Hogan, J Power
Personally I think Blanchfield will brought into the panel, he's a Colin Fennelly type player but with slightly less pace and a better eye for goal. I wouldn't worry about him physically, he's a big man and anyone who saw the belts he took in the junior games this needn't worry about him.
I'd like to see Blanchfield, Kevin Kelly (Ballyragget), Chris Bolger (Clara) and Paudie Gahan (Mullinavat) brought in and given a go in the Walsh Cup and possibly the league.
As for the thread title, I think long term Paul Murphy is the best bet, fast, physically strong, good in the air and no nonsense.
